The amazing events that happened in Egypt – where protesters successfully, and peacefully ended Pres. Hosni Mubarak’s thirty-year rule of the country, is cause for celebration by freedom loving citizens of the world. But what has happened in Egypt seems to be having an effect in other countries in the Middle East as freedom supporters in countries like Yemen, Algeria, Libya are taking to the streets to mount their own peaceful protests. These events could mirror the domino effect that happened when The Soviet Union collapsed and in succeeding events, various communist countries all across Europe were demolished one by one.

There are Russians who are not yet ready to embrace Putin’s rule. One of them was the opposition leader and the former chess world champion Gary Kasparov. He mentioned that the magazines vote was a disgrace.
Sergei Ugaltsov, the Red Youth Vanguard leader said that the “Person of the Year” title distracts the people from witnessing the untold stories of the Russian progress under the ruling of Putin. He argued that the living conditions of Russia is not improving and the prices are continuously rising.
There are lots of men who very skeptical about the stability of Putin’s rule. Most of them believed that Putin is not against corruption and instead, he is using it to control his people and the whole Russian nation.

Time Magazine declared Vladimir Putin, the Russian President as the Person of the Year for 2007. Putin won over the former Vice President Al Gore and J.K. Rowling, the author of the popular book “Harry Potter”. This news created violent reactions from Russian people. The managing editor of Time, Richard Stengel, pointed out that Putin is not a good guy but he has done extraordinary things.
Dmitry Peskov, the spokesman of Kremlin said that this controversial Time Magazine title was an acknowledgment of Putin’s role in bringing Russia out of economic and social troubles during the 1990′s. Peskov also stressed out that Putin was also responsible for restoring the national pride of Russia.

For Gordon Brown, outlining agreements on major reforms with international bodies and eventual move to dismantling of nuclear weapons is a preparation for the post Bush political era. Despite the close working relationship with the outgoing United States President, it seems undeniable that there are going to be some policy changes that need to be implemented.
Discussion of plans with Chinese and Indian leaders are part of Mr. Brown’s agenda during his trip to the World Economic Forum including a meeting with French, Italian and German counterparts when he meets with them sometime in London. He promised that his country will lead the initiative that will accelerate disarmament with possessor states towards a nuclear weapons free world.

The slowing U.S. economy is leading to higher budget deficits for this year and next year as President George W. Bush will acknowledge when he presents his 2009 fiscal spending plan which amounts to $3 Trillion. The fiscal spending plan aims to boost military funding while freezing many of his domestic programs.
President Bush is expected to project approximately $400 Billion in budget deficit for the years 2008 and 2009. This amount is twice the $163 Billion shortfall which was recorded in 2007. The budget deficit will be inherited by the incoming U.S. president who will assume office in 2009.

World politics keeps abreast with the upcoming U.S. Presidential Elections and is hungry for relevant information, which is quite understandable with the United States being a pillar of world economy. Much of what is happening in the U.S. whether political, economic or social affects much of the affairs of nations around the world which often lends to the country’s image of imposing its will and domination on smaller economies.
Much of the world attention centers on the numerous candidates and the policy stands they present on various issues that range from economic to technology and health care. The stand of the next U.S. President will surely dictate the country’s international policies, which may either strain or relax world political ties.

Globalization has played an important role in world politics with the growing interconnection of human societies brought about by the establishment of closer contacts through developed technology. These advances have made the world interdependent now more than it has ever been with world leaders and policy makers able to keep watch and maintain relationships with their counterparts around the world with the touch of a button.

A substantial harbor which could house a score of nuclear ballistic missile submarines a host of aircraft carriers has been built by China at the Sanya Base on Hainan Island’s southern tip based on satellite imagery passed to ‘The Daily Telegraph’. Pentagon’s greater concern is the massive tunnel entrances built into hillsides and around the base which is estimated to be 60ft high. Sources fear that these could lead to caverns that are capable of hiding as much as 20 nuclear submarines from spy satellites. This will be a significant challenge to the dominance of U.S. Navy and to the countries that are around the South China Sea.
