Aristotle was the author of the book Politics. Like Plato, he is a Greek philosopher He argued that by nature, man is a political animal. He also stressed out the strong link between ethics and politics. Aristotle also mentioned that in order to gain a truly ethical life, one must participate in politics.
Perhaps one of the most controversial political philosophers of the early times was Niccolo Machiavelli. He is the author of the book The Prince. Machiavelli is an Italian political theorist who raises the ideas of having an absolute ruler and the ways of attaining and maintaining absolute power.
Thomas Hobbes was responsible for the work, Leviathan. In this book, he created a model of the early development of humans as a means of justifying the roots of politics. He also raised the idea that every individual has an equal share of rights to every resources available. Hobbes also proposed the idea of social contract.
There are many political philosophers that have made their names widely known around the world. These wise men have provided major contributions and developments to the area of politics. One of them is Confucius, who is an ancient Chinese philosopher and was one of the early thinkers who contributed to the field of political philosophy. The beliefs of Confucius ware strongly connected to the idea of personal ethics and morality because he believed that a ruler with moral values and who possesses the “virtue” deserves to execute power and authority.
